The polling fra representative of Olakia liding in tho Taitri County Council, in the room of Mr Allan resigned, took place yesterday, and (xcited considerable interest locally. It was after ten o’clock at night before the returns from all districts came in. Tho following were the numbers polled : J. Cullen, J. Graham. U. Gillies. Grevtown .. (i! 20 10 (Haku ii 1 18 Saddle Hill .. 1) 5.'! 4 Kuri Hush ..1 8 13 Brighton ..2 13 10 Totals .. 95 95 Cl There were seven infomnl votes. There being thus a tie for Mesun Cullen and Graham, it fell to the lot of the Returning Officer'to givo his casting vote, and Mr J, T. Douglas gave it in favor of Mr Cullen, as being an old settler.
