Tuesday, December 9.
The House sat till 3 this morning. After going into committee ou the Maori Prisoners Trial Bill a good deal of discussion ensued on the 4th clause, which read—“ Commissioncra to be entitled to such reasonable remuneration for their services as the Governor may proscribe ; any member of the General Assembly acting or receiving any sum of money by way of remuneration as aforesaid shall not be deemed to have committed a breach of the Disqualification Act, 1875.” The clause was negatived by 40 to 28. Sir G.
