THE NATIVE MEETING.
♦_ [From Oxte Own CoßßxspoKDXinr.] NGARUAWAHIA, May 2. Sir George Grey and party left, per the Delta, for Alexandra this morning. They will arrive there at about three, and proceed to Konua in canoeß.
ALEXANDRA, Mat 2. The Government party are erpected here at noon. The latest device of the enemy is stated to be that last night Rewi sent a message to Sir George Grey not to come beyond Alexandra. It is atated, however, on good authority that Tawhiao desires tba Government party not to come up in Ngapuhi canoes, as the Kingites desire to give a special reception to the Ngapuhia. Later.
The Government party are not likely to proceed up the river till to-morrow. A rumor is current here, apparently well founded, that Te Ngakau yesterday Bent a letter telling Ministers hot to come beyond Alex? andra. Te Wheoro "has gone up to see Tawhiao and ask whether Ngakau's letter is written with his approval. It is also re* ported that Major Roberts has another letter to the same effect from Te Ngakau to hand Sir George Grey on his arrival, but this requires confirmation.
