Au a conference of the office-bearers of Presbyterian churches of Dunedin And suburbs last night in the class-room of Old Knox Church, the Rev. Dr Stu art occupying tae chair, the four City churches and the churclu a at Kaikorai ami Caversham were represented. The reports of the .session on the subject of fust days were received, and the following resolution, moved by the Rev. Dr Cpplancl, and seconded by Mr A. Rennie,, was carried : —“ That seeing the majority of the sessions in and around Dunedin have declared their opinion that in present circumstances it is inexpedient to continue the observance of fast days, this meeting agrees to recommend to all the sessions that this opinion should now be carried into effect.” The report from the First Church was in favor of the observance of fast days; the return from Caveraham recommended that one fast day in each year be observed throughout Otago and Southland ; but the returns from all the other churches were favorable to the resolution adopted by the eonference.
