The schooner Moid of Otago, with a cargo of timber from Invercargill, arrived this forenoon, and passed up to Dunedin. She left Invercargill on the 4th inst and had northerly winds along the coast to arrival. ' The ketch Jessie, timber laden, from Catlin's River arrived this forenoon, and passed the Port to Dunedin with a fresh N.E. breeze.
The s s. Tararua arrived at Port Chalmers at seven this morning. She left Melbourne at 11 a.m. on the 30th ult. ; experienced fresh head winds, and pa«c CC i Cape Pillar at 3 30 a.m. on the lit inst , arrivW'Vt. It is said that the Great Eastern has been purchi>s«d by a company, who intend to use her as a cattle, boat to ply between Texas and London.
