One Peter Steele, who had been knocking about Naseby for a few days drinking heavily,' died suddenly in the hospital there on Friday last. On the morning of the same day, wishing to get himself sobered, and naturally feeling ill, he sought admission to the hospital—which he secured. Shortly after entering he went outside, and, not returning for some time, the warder went to look for him, and found him dead in one of the out-houses. An inquest was held on Saturday. According to a telegram in the * North Otago Times' a verdict of "Death from apoplexy, brought on by abscess on the brain," was returned.
