WASTE LAND BOARD.
The meeting yesterday was attended by the Chief Commissioner, Messrs Basting l , Strode, Clark, and Green, and the following was the principal business transacted : Mr Thomas Richardson by his agents Reid and Dancans applied for the reserve of seven acres and thirty-two poles in block 4, Wai kaka, with the object that it may not be disposed of without public competition. Ranger Hughan’s report on Mr J. Mentiplary’s application for same was also considered, Land to be sold by auction at upset of LlO an acre. Messrs Connell and Moodie, for "Walter Miller, jun., applied to have him declared the purchaser of section 37, block 4, section 28, block 4, and section 36, block 4, Waitahuna East.—Declared accordingly. Messrs Connell and Moodie, for Mr Brunton, of Toi-tois, applied to purchase pre-emptive right of 640 acres on Run No. 61.—As the applicant had not exercised his right within the twelve months after the receipt of notice, the Board declined to grant the application. Messrs Connell and Mocdie, for John Patterson, applied for lease of 160 acres bush land, Tapanui, tor 1878.—Granted,
The Board cons.dered a letter from Davis Lamb, of Waikaka, enclosing a petition from the settlers requesting the Board to withdraw the sections advertised to be sold as land of special value in block 14, Chatton, and open the same under the deferred payment system.—Received. The adjourned consideration of Mr Driver’s letter dated the 7th inst., respecting the disputed boundary of runs Nos. 88 and 161, was dealt with.—Postponement till January 16 agreed to. Report from the District Land Officer, Clyde, accompanying Win. Burns’s application to purchase section 13, block 5, Tiger Hill district, held by him under deferred payment license. Adjourned till the 27ih inst.
D. M'Cready applied to purchase 120 acres at Kyeburn. Mr J. H. Schorne wrote op posing same, as did the County Council and others, on the ground that the land was auriferous. —After some discussion the application was withdrawn. Mr John Mouat asked the Board to po .t----pone any further action in the matter of the M‘Combs, to enable the latter to petition the Governor for compensation.—The Board determined to adhere to its previous decision. Mr Hosking, for M* idle and Hodge, applied to com lete purchase of land contained in his application for pre-emptive right on Run 334, purchased by them from White Bios.—The application was refused, but applicants were recommended to apply for that portion of the land on which improvements have been effected.
