The following are the principal notices of motion for next Tuesday’s meeting i By Or.BoMBM-"Tliftt the flagging at Princes street, between High street and MattSe street, be removed, and the footpath asphalted by the Corporation daymen, If the asphalt contractors are not at present prepared to undertake the work j also, that the flagging so removed be immediately relaid at FrlnoeS street, between Walker and Stafford street*! and the footpath completed. By Cr. Woodlasd—“Thata brick sewer be laid 2? . T o,k P laoo « from the junction of Fillenl and St. Andrew streets to Albert street, so as to prevent farther damage by floods.'* “That the Legislative Committee take immediately the necessary measures to enable the Gounod to erect their buddings at the Octagon Market Reserve.’* By Or. WaltSk— **'That Rattray street, from Bond street to end of Jetty, be Immediately pat in proper order, and that special instructions be given to the engineer to have the same metalled in future without reference to the Conned.*' By Cr OlßSOs—"That the resolution of the Connell, adopting the report of the Select Com* mittee on Theatres, he rescinded, in so far as it requires the opening to the pit and stalls of the Princess's Theatre from High street to be used as an ordinary means of entrance to and exit from the Theatre; and that it wil meet the requirements of the ‘loaned if such opening is made available as a means of escape in case of fire. That a crossing bo made in George street, at its intersection with London and Pitt streets. By Cr. Isaac— 11 That this Conned confer with the Waste Land Board with the object of gaining permission to remove the nuisance now existing by the damming np of the Leith by Mr M‘ Donald. By Cr. Mollison “ That owing to the divided responsibility in the Public Works Department, and the very unsays factory way in which the works of the City have been carried out for some time East, the Council should make an arrangement for aving one Inspector for the City; also, for having a certain number of surfacemen for each ward; one of such surfacemen, in each ward, to he responsible for his gang, to have certain powers, and to be paid such rate of wage, above the ordinary men, as may bo decided upon.” By Cr. Fish :—“That the Conned resolve to prepare and present to Parliament at its ensuing session a Bid to revest in the Corporation the re* serve known as the Wha- ves and Qaays ; and that it be remitted to the Legislative Committee to give effect to this resolution. That so soon as the Bill is prepared his Worship request the City members to take charge of and support the same in the House.** “That this Conned reconsider its decision with regard to compensating certain ratepayers in Princes street south for losses sustained by lowering the street on its west side.
