W, Delamain’s br m Pungawerewere, 4 yrs, 7st 101b ... 3 At the start Pungawerewere went to the front, with 0 oth of Gold second, and Templeton third, and in this order they passed the judge’s stand the first time round. Shortly after Cloth of Gold collared the mare, and an exciting neck and neck race ensued, but on coming into the straight Cloth of Gold passed his antagonist and came in a winner amid the cheers of the spectators. It was a capital race throughout. Time : 3 min 43 sec. Timaeu Cup, a handicap of 150 sots. 2) miles. Mr T. Logan's oh hj Cloth of Gold, 6at 121b (ino. 71b penalty) 1 Mr D. When* opposite the grand stand the second time round a blanket could have covered the first four horses. On coming into the straight for the final struggle the jockey of Titania fell, owing to his horse coming in contact with a post, but fortunately nothing serious occurred thereby, and Webster, the rider, came in to the saddling paddock none the worse for his spill.
