The latest news from the Waikaka rush continues to be encouraging. Several fresh claims have been bottomed, the wash being of a similar nature to that found in the prospectors claim, and the gold of the same , e ground so far tested is (says the Tuapeka Times ’) turning out remarkably well, from ono to two feet of dirt being met with, which, in some of the claims, averages half an ounce per load. Messrs U Shanueaay and party, on Logan’s freehold, are also on payable gold, and have proved beyond a doubt the highly auriferous nature of the property recently sacrificed by the Government, Arrangements will probably be entered into between the miners and Mr Logan so as to work the ground to their mutual advantage, A small rush has set in on the upper side of the Waikaka; Messrs Simson and party being the prospectors. They have struck payable gold on a terrace. Several other parties are now sinking. Further prospectmg u gomg on in the vicinity, ana there is a likelihood of the Waikaka watershed receiving a thorough testing for gold.
