PIR, —' s the Commissioner of Police seems determined that the provisions of the Licensing Act shall be carried out in strict accordance with the letter of the Jaw, I would wig esh that in the cause of humanity the members of the force should have their attention directed to section 42 of the A ct. That section, prohibiting the employment of barmaids before eleven in the morning, is openly contravened by several of our leading licensed houses, I myself was served with a hock and soda this morning by a young lady at eight o’clock, in a licensed House not a hundred yards from the First Church. This should he looked to,—l am, &c., , COKOKA. Dunedin, November 6.
