LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbourne, December 6th. Commercial. —Sales of flour under hammer brought LI 2 2s 6d to LI2 5s ; best flour, Ll3 ; wheat, 5s 7d to 6s ; maize has advanced to 4s. Oats are dull of sale at 3s 9d to 4s. An improved feeling is springing up in teas since the wreck of the Marie Cabrielle, a tea ship, which occurred oft' Moonlight Heads. Holders now demand lid advance all round. Speculation in salt continues, the ruling price being L 4 ss. Gozzen’s kerosene sells at 2s 2d. The wool sales were brisk, 2,000 bales sold at 5 ' d to 9|d for greasy ; 121 yd to 17;[ for scoured; and 10 Rl to 15Jd for fleece. Bacon, 9d; hams, Is. Large sales of candles have taken place at lOfd. The improvement in tobaccos is maintained. Rice is unsaleable. There is a brisk demand for dried fruits ; figs are scarce at to SRI ; muscatels, 9d to 9£d ; dried apples, G|d to 7tl, Melbourne. The Claud Hamilton arrived on the 10th. The officers of the Flying Squadron arc being lavishly feted. The Mayor’s pic-nic at Fern Tree Cully was a great

success ; 400 persons were present. A naval review occurred on Saturday, and was witnessed by twenty-thousand spectators. It rained all day. The Admiral is visiting Ballarat to-day. Messrs, Papkes, Mwtjn, Ring, and Buchanan, have beep elected for East Sydney. Miss Eleanor Carey, an actress em gaged by Mr Montgomery to appear at Auckland, has mysteriously disappeared. News from Rockhampton reports that all hands at Mount Elgin station have been murdered by the blacks. Adelaide. Mr J. M. Solomon has been elected Mayor.
