THE DUNEDIN MUSICAL SOCIETY.

(To the Editor of the Evening Star. ) Sib, —I was present at the entertainment given by the High School boys at the new Post Office last evening, at which the above Society assisted, and was greatly pleased with the progress the Society has made during the last month or two. The idea suggested to my mind was, that the Society has now attained so great a degree of efficiency as to render it a matter of absolute necessity that it should have the services of a professional conductor. The gentleman who has wielded the baton so far has, I am sure, done his best for the Society ; but, now that the latter have attained such proportions and efficiency, it is too much to expect him to do so any longer. A Wbll-wisher.
