BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. (from our own correspondent.) Cromwell, Thursday. Late last night more stone waa brought in still heavier and richer than before. The prospect shows that the reef gets richer the deeper from the surface. The reef is not known to have been found in any new claim. All are very sanguine there is continued excitement. Arrangements are being made to forward specimens to Mr Bathgate. They are expected to reach Dunedin on Saturday night. A large number of persons arrived in town last night and this morning. All went off to the reef at an early hour. The town is quiet, and nearly deserted. No speculation in town. Holders indisposed to sell. Parties are anxiously expected back from the reef. Speculation is expected to be going on there. Latest quotations :—Colclough’s prospecting claim, one-sixth share, LSO ; outside reefs, L3OO. There are numerous enquiries from town.
