CONTEMPORARY LITERATURE.

To the Editor of the Evening Star.

Sir,—The leader of your contemporary, under date 28th ulto., with the subsequent report of the debate in the Assembly, followed by the rigmarole effusion of a “Pastor of the Church ” in this day’s issue, is, I fear the mere prelude to a flood of filth, that will overwhelm us for the next fortnight, of a nature that would have disgraced The Town, or Paul Pry of former days. As our breakfast tables must be minus the usual pabulum for some time, for the love of Charity do nob deprive us of our tea-table accompaniment also. Paterfamilias. Dunedin, 2nd Nov., 1869.
