Tins Day. (Before W. D. Murison, Esq., J.P., and Capt. Fraser, J.P.) drunkard. Susannah Phillips, for being drunk, was fined IDs or 24 hours’ imprisonment. CHARGE OF VAGRANCY. James Macdonald was charged by Detective Goldie with having no visible or sufficient means of support. From the evidence of the detective, it appeared that the prisoner and another man were about the town on Saturday visiting public houses, and that the prisoner's companion succeeded in obtaining money for a valule-s cheque, to the amount of three pounds. In consequence of believing the prisoner interested i 1 1tie transaction, he arrested him; the other person had not yet been secured. The prisoner had iu his possession a smaller cheque, which he said had been given him by the person iu whose company ho had been seen, and who acknowledged to its being forged. On the application of Detective Thomson, who conducted the prosecution, the prisoner was remanded to Thursday. Civil Cases. Bacon and Meyers v. Farquharson.—Ll 10s, for gods supplied. Judgment for the plaintiffs, by default, for the amount. Duncan v. Williams. —LIS 6s lOd. The case was undefended. Judgment for the plaintiff for the amount, by default. Brown, Ewing, and Co., v. Faddish.— LI, for goods supplied. Judgment for the plaintiff, by default.
