It appeared from the evidence that the prisoner, who had only been discharged from gaol a few hours, accosted the prosecutor in George street last evening, and accompanied him to the Rainbow Hotel. While there he missed his watch, and following the prisoner, who had previously left the house, he came up to her in a right-of-way opposite the Sussex Hotel. The watch was there given to him by a boy, who saw the prisoner drop it. She pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to live months’ imprisonment, with hard labor Civil Cases. Macintosh v. Flexman.—On the tion of Mr Ward, the case was adjourned until Monday. John Barclay v, W Ferguson.—This was a claim for Lo, amount of an I 0 U. Judgment by default for the amount claimed, with costs. Thomas Carr v. W. Sfatham.—This was a fraud summons calling upon the defendant to show cause why judgment should not be given against him for the amount claimed. — The Magistrate considered that the d fendaut’s conduct clearly amounted to fraud within the meaning of ihe Resident Magistrate’s Act, 1868; apd ordered that the amount claimed and posts be paid within three days, or, in default, the defendant to be imprisoned for two calendar months. The cases of Cotton v. .Scott and Keenan v. Cotton were dismissed, there being no appearance of the parties.
