RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
This Pay. (Before James Fulton, Esq., R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. John Whittaker, for the above offence, was fined 10s ; and Peter Butler and William Stavely were each fined 20s. There was a charge of drunkenness preferred against Robert Tallimore, but he was not in a fit state to appear. MINOR OFFENCES. John Pringle was charged with having in his possession a dog which attacked passersby. As it was a first offence, the case was dismissed with a caution.--John Smith was fined 20s and costs, for riding across the footpath in Frederick street.—Edward Robinson, for obstructing the carriage-way in Frederick street, was fined ?ls and costs.—Alex. Steel, for furious riding, was fined 10s and costs. William Lane and John Colley, for being at an improper distance from their horses, were respectively fined 5s and 10s, and costs. John Hanson, for driving a carriage without lights, was fined Is and costs.—Thomas Lambert, for allowing the chimnej' of his house to take fire, was fined 10s and costs ; and a similar penalty was imposed on James Cotton, for neglecting to keep his premises clean.—William Hay and C. H. Jessep were each fined 2s 6d and costs for neglecting to keep their premises clean ; and Henry Birch, John M'Croney, and William Smith were each fined 5s and costs for the same offence. William Heads was fined 2s fid and costs, for employing an unlicensed driver ; and a charge of driving a cab without being licensed preferred against Archibald Gibbs was dismissed with a caution. —Robert Wilson was fined 2s fid and costs for allowing filthy water to run over the footpath in Maitland street; and Guthrie, Asher and Co. were fined 5s and costs, for neglecting to keep their premises clean.
