THE THEATRE.
I To the Editor of the Event no Star. I Sir—Will you allow me, through the I columns of your paper, to call the attention of the proprietor of the Princess Theatre to ; the urgent necessity of providing the pit of his theatre with better moans of egress. At a very little expense, a large door could be lifted at the head of tiie passage near the stairs leading to the dress circle, which would greatly relieve the present doorway. I have been led to make this suggestion having attended the theatre last evening ; and from the crowded state of the pit, had an alarm of fire been given, numberless accidents would have occurred ; in fact, I am sure there would have been some killed ; for, without any panic to cause an hasty retreat, the confusion was most fearful at the termination of the play, of which fact I am sure many can bear me out. Trusting Mr Court will see the necessity of carrying out this little alteration—l am, sir, Pro Bono Publico. Dunedin, August 21st.
