RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
This I'ay. (Before A. Cbetham-Strode, Esq., R.M.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. John Murphy, for drunkenness, was fined 30s, or to be imprisoned four days ; Matilda Hancock, 40s, or one week; and Catherine Grey, L 5, or fourteen days. John Robinson, Peter Armstrong, and George Henderson, were charged with riotous conduct in the streets. The defendants were not drunk, but noisy. Robinson and Henderson, who were the most disorderly, were each fined 50s, (r 48 hours' imprisonment ; and Armstrong log, or 24 hours’ imprisonment. Civil Cases. John Gray v. Jas Clarke —Mr Haggitt sppeared for the person on whom the summons had been served. The claim was for L 37 14s, for goods s-dd and delivered, Mr Haggitt said the person on .whom the summons was served was never indebted to the plaintiff, that in fact it was sc. ved upon the wrong person. —'Die plaintiff stated that the James Clarke who was indebted to him once lived in George street, and kept the Temperance Hotel ; that he sent the goods to his order at the Bailer. Mr Haggitt replied that the transaction for the doors was with Mr Haworth, whom the defendant had paid some time ago. The case was withdrawn. M "Lean and Co. v. Crawford. A claim for the amount of a dishonored bill, with interest, L 36 Os fid. Verdict was given for the plaintiff, by default, for the amount. The case of Black and Thomson v. Crews was adjourned for a week.
