MUDDY STREETS.
(To the Editor of the Evcninq Star.)
Sir—Gan you inform me whe'.her it was the intention of the City Council to fortify He: iot row and Royal terrace against any sudden attack of Hau-baus, when they rendered that part of the town so thoroughly inaccessible? If s- cli was the case they have succeeded admirably; and as other towns in the Colony may wish to act in a similar manner, I will tell them how it can be done at an equally cheap rate, say LSOO to Ll,ooo. Let them employ their convicts under the superintendence of an experienced engineer and practical overseer, and deposit a quantity of mud about two feet deep across the streets leading to that part of the town they wish to make impregnable, and the thing is done. I would, however, suggest that our City Council should place a few boards marked “ dangei’ous ” at the junction of Pitt street and Heriot row, otherwise some of the unfnrUmate inhabitants may come to grief.—l have, &c,, Mudlark. July 2, 1869 P. 3, Haa Leith Ward any representative in the City Council ?
