ROAD BOARDS.
(From a Correspondent.) Kaikorai, June 24, 1869. The annual meeting of the Kaikorai district for the election of Road Trustees for the ensuing year, took place this day at 12 noon. Messrs- David Thomson, James Cunningham, Henry Mason, William Barr, and John Biggar were elected to form the Road Board for 1869-70.
Mernington, June 25. The annual meeting of the ratepayers of the district of Moruington, for the purpose of electing a new Road Board of Trustees for the ensuing year, was held at the Schoolhouse, Moruington, last evening. Mr A. Russell was called to the chair, and as had been expected, there was a very full attendance of the ratepayers. Mr Thos. Bamford, the late Treasurer to the Board, gave a lucid and interesting account of the income and expenditure of the Board for the bygone year, which justifies hopeful and cheering anticipations regarding the future improvement and progress of the district. A vote of thanks was unanimously accorded to him, and the whole Board, for the great and unwearied attention those gentlemen have devoted to the interests of the district, —a circumstance perhaps unprecedented in the annals of Road Board electioneering. The following gentlemen were then duly elected to farm the Board for the ensuing year, which I may add, are the same who constituted the Board last year, with such general satisfaction : Messrs Thos. Bamford, J. Mitchell, A. R. Ure, R. B. Martin, and A. H. Shury.
