VOLUNTEERS' COLUMN.

Otago Rifle Association. —The ties in the Matches of the Association were decided this morning at the Kaikorai Butts, at 5 a.m.

Volunteer Match. —Ties for Range Prize of £l, at 200 yards.—Private W. F. Stevens, Private J. R. Thomson, and Sergeant Devore ; Private Thompson was absent. In shooting off. Private Stevens made a centre ; and as Sergeant Devore missed. Private Stevens takes the Prize.

“ Evening Star ” Match. —Four ties for 3rd 4fch, 5 th, and 6th Prizes—£4, £3, £2, £l—Gunner Muir, Corporal Taylor, Sergeant Devore, and Corporal J. E. Stevens. In shooting off, at 400 yards. Gunner Muir made a centre ; Corporal Taylor and Corporal Stevens, each a “ brill’s eye ” j and. Sergeant Devore an outer.' Corporals Taylor and Stevens then fired off for 3rd and 4th prizes,—Corporal Taylor again making a “ bull’s eye,” while Carporal Stevens made a centre. The prizes now stands to the names as under—Corporal Taylor, 3rd; Corporal Stevens. 4th ; Gunner Muir, sth ; and Sergeant Devore, 6th. “Daily Times’, Match. —Ties for 4th and sth prizes of £3 and £2, Gunner Muir and Corporal Stevens.—ln the first round each made an outer ; in the second round, Gunner Muir made a centi’e —thus taking the third prize. Corporal Stevens having made another outer. All Comers’ Match.— Ties for Range Prize of £2, at 500 yards. Sergeant Devore, Sergeant Hannah, and Private W. F. Stevens.—ln shooting, Sergeant Devore made a centre. Sergeant Hannah an outer, and Private Stevens, a bull’s eye, winning the prize. All Comers’Match.— Ties for 2nd and 3rd Prizes of £5 and £2, decided at 600 yards. Sergeant Devore, and Lieutenant M‘Farland.—ln shooting off, Sergeant Devore made an outer, taking 2nd prize ; Lieut. M‘Farland making a ricochet, taking the third. Shooting for the Government Prizes in District No. 2 at Port Chalmers. —This competition came off at the Port Chalmers Butts this day, with the following results ; 300 400 500 Yards. Yards. Yards.
