COUNTRY NEWS.
The J Bruce Herald says :— ‘ ‘ Public opinion all “over the Province is, we believe, strorigly in favor of a dissolution ; but the question arises, how is-public' opinion to be ascertained to the ; satisfaction of the opponents of such a measure ? ’Tis the old story of a man convinced against his '\vilj. If the public hold meetings, Mr Moss and his friends say, * Oh ? pub i ; meetings, packed meetings, will pass any kind of resolutions.’ If petitions are signed, ‘ People will sign petitions about anything.’ If the Press eJao the cry, ‘The Press does not represent the public.’ All ’ this may be very well, but, perhaps, if all three means are used, even Mr Moss will be convinced; and we strongly recommend the public to hold meetings, and to get up petitions. to prove to his Excellency, if they cannot to Mr Moss, that the electors of Otago really desire a dissolution.” - rjudutiM nju im fiiiunmiiuii uriii mi minnn imni r i i ir"""" ""— 1
