The Ifelson Colonist says:—“We lately noticed the demise of the Wellington Spectator, one of the oldest papers in the colony. We now learn that the JSfew Zealander, which was the oldest paper except one in New Zealand, has also ceased to exist, having breathed its last issue on the morning of 6th December, without giving any intimation that its race was run. It was once a vigorous, powerful, and lucrative concern ; but it has had too many phases. It became from a weekly a bi-weekly, then a triweekly, then a daily, next it reverted to a thrice-a-week issue again, and its last phase was that of a daily, “at the low price of one penny,” which, of course could not be remunera.'
