■“Evening Star” Office, 4.80 pm. The total amouxit of'revenue collected at the Customs to-day was 19s lOd.

Melbourne. —The Argus of the 15th instant reports -that “the import markets have not shown much animation, a great amount of apathy having been evinced on the part of dealers, as appears from the paucity of transactions which have been brought under our notice. The market for breadstuff's has been extremely quiet, no purchases having been made, pending the auction sale of 300 tons of flour advertised for this forenoon. Out of the quantity offered, however, only sixty-five tons were sold, at £25 15s- to £26 10s for country brands, and £26 15s to £27 10s for town brands, being five tons of each brand offered. This sale, however, can hardly be considered a criterion of the market, as may be judged from the small quantity parted with, but seems to be one of a series which usually takes place on the arrival of cargoea from foreign ports. The present sale, however, does not seem to have affected the views of holders, as for some 4,000 bushels of the Meander’s' (Californian wheat 11s 3d has been realised. The sale of the Frances Henty’s cargo is not yet reported. A parcel of Hennessy’s case brandy has been placed at 275, and we understand that a shade under that figure has been refused for a shipment of 500 cases. Candles are disposed of very freely. Duty-paid sales have been made at lOfd, and several parcels in bond have been placed at 94-d to 9f d. Byass’s stout is much wanted, and to satisfy the demand parcels to arrive are eagerly .purchased at 8s 3d in bond. Cornsacks, for trade requirements, are moved off slowly at 14s. Provisions are in fair request; some forty-five cases of Sinclair’s hams have changed hands at Is 44d in bond. A considerably inquiry exists for currants, which continue to meet with anxious buyers at 5.*, d. Further sales of quicksilver are reported at 3s 6d. Southern twist tobacco, of fine quality and in good condition, has been quitted at 3s. Sales of oysters have been effected at 10s 6d.”

Adelaide.—By telegraph. to the 14th inst.: Forward buyers of new wheat offerßsper bushel. Holders of flour are offering to quit at decreased rates. A parcel of 1000 bushels of wheat realised 11s to-day, at which price more is offering, without finding purchasers. Sales of Marrian/s ale are reported at £7 10s, There is a good demand for pale yellow crystal sugars.
