The "Board of Trade Journal" announced that the German Vbomb attacks in 1944-45 caused damage amounting to £24,000,000 sterling to homes, almost all of which were in the Greater London area.
More than 30,000 claims were lodged during the peak period under the Government's private chattel war insurance scheme, which cost £86.000,000.
