BLOODSTOCK SALES
The annual November bloodstock sale, held at Acldington trotting grounds, attracted a large attendance ot ringsiders, but with an unattractive catalogue, bidding was very restricted, and only a few sales were made under the hammer. The imported brood mare Miss Saone. by Blandonian, in foal to Defaulter, was secured by Wright, Stephenson, and Company, Ltd., as agents, for 475g5. Great Memory, by Magnus from Retrospect in foal to Defaulter, made 200gs and was purchased by Mr. P D. Hall, of Hawarden, who also bought Divinette by Thurnharn. with foal at foot by Defaulter and in foal to the same horse at 95gs. Charlotte Corday, dam of Corday and Saint Joachim, in foal to Defaulter, realised 50gs, and was purchased by Mr W A. Piddington. of Timaru. Avenal by Nightmarch with filly foal by Cheeky Boy, made 40gs and was secured by Mr. W. E. Stickings, of Christchurch. There was only a moderate demand for racehorses and untried stock. Mr. E. Goulden. of Wellington, bought: Trumpet Call, hv Battle Song from Knocklynn. for 75gsThe same buyer paid ioOgs for the two-year-old Lady Naphtha, by Defaulter from Camphor, by Ilj;;d lYom Cyraene, :md 120 us for In Chanoorv. by Solicitor General from Royal Baby' Other .sales were:—Yearling' coll by Eulogist from Bon Raid. The three-year- | old filly Koyal Vestments was offered, but fniled to vcarh the reserve.
