Evidence was given at the courtmartial of Captain McVay, commander of the heavy cruiser Indianapolis, j which was sunk in the Philippines Sea lon July 30, by the ship's bugler, Donald !Mock, that he was on the bridge when the vessel was struck but did not receive orders to sound the call to abandon ship.
