RECORD AT KELBURN

The earthquake was one of the longest and most severe ever recorded in New Zealand. The record at the Dominion Observatory began at 10.15 a.m. yesterday and continued for several hours. It was on such a scale, stated an official this morning, that it will take some time to "sort out the pulses" before any approximate distance can be given as to its origin. The officials were satisfied that it was one of the most severe ever recorded in Wellington.
