NOTE TO TURKEY
DARDANELLES' STATUS
MODIFICATIONS ASKED BY. BRITAIN
LONDON, November 25. The British Government has handed a Note to the Turkish Government on the future status of the Dardanelles. The Note says that Britain, which is in agreement with America, wants modifications of the Montreux Convention, which deals with fortifications and the passage of warships through the straits. She is also ready to take part in any international conference on the subject.
The American point of view has already been given fo the Turkish Government following the decisions at Potsdam—that Britain, America, and Russia should get in touch with Turkey separately on the subject. Russia had talks with Turkey some months ago.
