DIPLOMAT'S CHARGE
ARMS TO DESTROY CENTRAL
GOVERNMENT
Rec. 11 a.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 14. Speaking at Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Ambassador to China, MajorGeneral Hurley, charged that the Chinese Communists sought the surrender of Japanese troops to procure arms so that they could establish a separate Government or destroy the •Central Government.
It was officially announced in Washington that the United States is giving China about 50,000,000 dollars' credit to facilitate the delivery of goods, mostly machinery and textiles. Some trucks and raw materials were ordered under lend-lease, but were not delivered by VJ Day. Discussing Far Eastern policy, the Secretary of State, Mr. Byrnes, said at a Press conference that Chinese trOops flown to Manchuria would be transported in planes lend-leased to China and manned by Chinese crews. He added that the United States and Russia had not discussed the civil strife in China.
