CONSUMPTION OF WOOL

Rec. 9 a.m. LONDON, November 14. The joint organisation which was being established under agreement between the United Kingdom and the Dominions Governments to secure the orderly liquidation of accumulated stocks of wool concurrently with the marketing of new clips, would encourage the full consumption of wool, stated Lord Pakenham, replying in the House of Lords to Lord Barnby, who asked 8 the Government to stimulate the consumption of wool wherever possible in substitution for cotton.

Lord Pakenham added that there would be no purpose in stimulating the consumption of wool in substitution for cotton. A reduction in the number of coupon points needed for woollen garments would not at present be possible because the existing output was only just sufficient to meet the coupon demand.
