The King has approved of thejaward of Mention in Dispatches to T^porary Sub-Lieutenant (Special Branch) Peter Rynd, R.N.Z.N.V.R., for bravery and skill in mine-clearing operations in enemy-held ports during, thei invasion of Normandy and_ the L/>w Countries. Sub-Lieutenant Rynd was born at Wellington on June 3, liwu, and before the war was a clerk.in tne Post and Telegraph Department, Wellington. In February, 1945, he was awarded the French Croix de Guerre > with Silver Star for services intheclearance of mines from the port oi; Etaples. His father is Mr. E. F. Rynd, • Shannon. --.•-- _■■■~
