THEFT OF BLANKETS

For the theft of three blankets, the property of the Shaw Savill, and Albion Company, two greasers off the Karamea, George Swan, 23, and Hugh Robertson, 45, were each sentenced to seven days' imprisonment by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today. Sub-Inspector J. Abel stated that at 4.30 p.m. yesterday a constable saw the two accused walking along a wharf. Robertson was carrying a parcel, and when questioned by the constable he said he was taking a suit to be dry-cleaned. When the parcel was opened it was found to contain the blankets. Robertson then said that he must have picked up the wrong parcel by mistake, but Swan said they had better admit that they had stolen the blankets.
