WOMAN SENTENCED
HOUSEBREAKING CHARGES
P.A. AUCKLAND, This Day. "This is a pitiful case, but while one feels sorry for the prisoner the Court must do its duty to society," said Mr. Justice Cornish in the Supreme Court this morning when Lucy Theresa Abraham, 26, appeared for sentence on four charges of housebreaking and two charges of theft from a dwelling.
For the prisoner, Mr. Aekins said the case was exceedingly difficult to understand. The prisoner began committing offences when 15 and had spent most of her life in prison. "I think you got a bad start in life, bur many people get that and still make a success of it," said the Judge. "I'm afraid you are becoming incorrigible. What you need is a good long period of detention."
The prisoner was sentenced to three years' reformative detention.
