GREAT STREAM OF SUNSPOTS

The stream of sunspots reported on October 18 is now approaching the sun's western limb and will disappear within the next few days, reports Mr. G. V. Hudson, Karori. When it was observed on October 21, it was about 350.000 miles long and nine distinct spots were counted. Atmospheric conditions that day were very unsuitable, and no doubt, some of the ■ smaller components were missed. Such a long, continuous stream of sunsppts'is an unusual phenomenon. It'practically coincided with the spell of cold .and stormy weather experienced in Wellington during last weekend, and the extremely violent gal^s reported m Europe. ■'■'' ." ■'- ■-. .■
