The tennis section of the Upper Hutt Bowling, Croquet, and Tennis Club opened officially on Saturday afternoon. The president, Mr. A. W. McGill, said that membership of the ten- : section now totalled 70. He welcomed new visitors, and expressed the hope that the season would prove enjoyable. 'Several annual competitions for trophies and awards which had not been held in wartime would be reinstated during the season, he said. Mrs. McGill, wife of the president, served the first ball, and the ladies' committee served afternoon tea. The official opening was followed by a dance in the evening.
