LABOUR RESOLUTIONS
SUPPORT FOR'INDONESIANS, Rec. 11.20 a.m. SYDNEY, October 1. A public meeting organised by the New South Wales Trades and Labour Council in Sydney yesterday demanded "that the Indonesian Provisional Republic be recognised by the United Nations and that•the Japanese and Dutch rulers be withdrawn." In Melbourne 1200 trade unionists and Indonesians passed a resolution asking the Commonwealth to demand the withdrawal of the British forces from Java immediately the Japanese have been disarmed and interned. One Indonesian speaker at the Sydney meeting said that the era of/ Dutch exploitation" of the East Indies had ended and added that the Indonesians were 'not going to return to the days of working for one penny a day. Another speaker said that the Indonesians admired the waterside workers of Australia New Zealand and the Pacific Coast of the United States for the support they were giving the Indonesians. • The Federal secretary of the Waterside Workers' Federation, Mr. J. Healy, stated that the destination of all cargo for Dutch ships was now being checked in Australia in furtherance of the policy of the Australian wgterside:
