YOUTH KILLED

COMPANION INJURED

A youth was killed and another injured when the bicycle on which they were double-banking in Victoria Avenue, Lower Hutt, early on Sunday morning was struck by. a car.

The youth killed was Duncan McLennan, aged 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. McLennan, of 75 Cambridge Terrace, Lower Hutt.

His companion was Trevor Gebbie, aged 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. F. G. Gebbie, 73 Cambridge Terrace, Lower Hutt. He suffered concussion and shock and was admitted to the Hutt Hospital. His condition is reported to be satisfactory.

The youths, who were returning from a dance shortly after 1.30 a.m., were proceeding north up Victoria Avenue and were nearing the approaches to the bridge leading to High Street, when the accident occurred.
