WOOL-SCOURERS' AWARD
In an amended award for Canterbury, Wellington, Otago, and Southland wool-scouring employees issued by the Court of Arbitration, hours remain at 44. When workers on shift work are required to work any portion of their shifts between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. they are to be paid 2s a shift in addition. - Minimum wages for workers over 21 are fixed as follows: Wool-sorters, 3s Id* wool-scourer in charge of machine, 2s lOd; hand . wool-pressers, 2s 9d; power wool-pressers, 2s B£d; hydroextractor operator. 2s BJ-d; all other workers. 2s 7£d. Workers cleaning out drains and scouring machines are to be paid 3d an hour extra with a minimum payment of Is a day. Workers unloading, loading, or stacking bales of wool, are to be paid Id an hour or part of an hour while so employed. Boys and youths may be employed at not less than £1 10s a week under 16. to £3 5s from 18 to 19, from 19 to 20 Is Bid an hour, from 20 to 21 2s an hour, thereafter minimum rates.
