FAMILY FROM EGYPT
WELLINGTON DQCTOR RETURNS
Civilian passengers who arrived at Wellington by the Strathmore yesterday included Dr. and Mrs. R. Wilson, their .three sons and young daughter Sheila, who have come from Egypt to reside in New Zealand. Dr.. Wilson, who is an old boy 01 Wellington College and an ex-student of Victoria College, went overseas with the New Zealand forces t during the last war and remained in Great Britain to complete his studies in.Edinburgh. He then went out to Egypt and has been Director of the Opthalmic Laboratory at Giza for some time., Dr. and Mrs. Wilson's home was at Maadi. They have lived in the Middle East for 19 years and their four children have been born and have spent most of their lives there, with the ex-
ception of frequent holiday visits to England, where Mrs. Wilson's people live. During the war she and her children spent two and a half years in Cape Town South Africa. , Prices are still soaring in the Middle East,' Mrs. Wilson said yesterday. Clothing and even ordinary household commodities, not in the luxury line, are exorbitantly priced. She instanced a few everyday essentials, among them butter, which was the equivalent of 7s per lb. in New Zealand money. v Materials, she said, were plentiful and were.available with a Government permit. Since the importation of model frocks declined with the war, most women bought materials and had them made by good dressmakers. Dr. and Mrs. Wilson and their children will stay for a few days with Dr. Wilson's father, Mr. Peter Wilson, of Tainui Terracej before continuing their journey to Dunedin, where Dr. Wilson will take up a hospital appointment.
