Warm appreciation of the work of the National Patriotic Fund Board for the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the Pacific, and of the V.M.C.A. personnel,.! the padres, and those in New Zealand who assisted the patriotic effort by contributions to the funds and by help given voluntarily in other ways is expressed by Air Commodore G. N. Roberts, commander of the New Zea- j land Air Task Force in the Pacific, in a letter received by the secretary of the National Patriotic Fund Board. "I wish to record the sincere appreciation of all ranks under my command in the Pacific for the splendid service by the National Patriotic Fund Board," says Air Commodore Roberts. "I would particularly like to mention Squadron Leader R. Herbert (the board's commissioner with the, RNZA.F.), who, by tireless devotion to 'duty, has on many occasions achieved what appeared to be impos-1 sible. I would also like to mention the excellent work the V.M.C.A. secretaries have done as expending agents for your board throughout the area.! Further, the padres, who are of such inestimable value in any fighting force, were able to carry out their responsibilities more adequately as a result of the allowance your board made themj for providing comforts to necessitous cases. TRIBUTE TO WOMEN WORKERS. "Not only do all those under my command owe a debt of gratitude to the volunteer workers assisting your organisation, but a very considerable one to the great number of ladies who accepted a self-imposed duty in assisting in many ways to ensure that the utmost benefit was obtained by us from the amenities provided. I know that all ranks not only appreciate very deeply the work which has been done by the National Patriotic Fund Board, with its host of volunteer workers, but i also the part played by the public of 'New Zealand, who contributed to the funds necessary for this work in such an unselfish and generous manner. "Now we have a little more time to reflect it is not difficult to see what your organisation has achieved, and I know that one and all appreciate the great effort put out by the organisation in New Zealand and your representatives abroad. The combination of 'Nat. Pat.' and V.M.C.A. has given us something that has made life bearable in isolated places, and I know I am voicing the sentiments of all ranks when I say 'thank you' for a job well done."
