BRADEN'S CHARGE
OBLIGATIONS NOT MET
NEW YORK, September 29
Argentina had failed to live up to its obligations to the Unted Nations, said Mr. Spruile Braden, former Ambassador to Argentina. He said that the Act of Chapultepec applied to the present situation in Argentina, particularly the passages dealing with the dedication to democracy, the principles of the Atlantic Charter, and promises to suppress Nazi activities.
Mr. Braden saw reason for optimism in the fine spirit of the Argentine people, as demonstrated at last week's popular demonstrations in Buenos Aires. He added that the Argentinians were genuinely democratic and sincere friends of America.
Mr. Braden is now Assistant Secretary of State in Charge of LatinAmerican affairs.
Argentine police headquarters have announced the release of all political, prisoners seized since the imposition of the state of siege, except eight or ten who are still being investigated.
