HUTT VALLEY CRICKET

Mr G. R. Simpson was elected chairman 'and Mr. F. Brocklebank deputy chairman at the first meeting of the newly-elected management committee of the Hutt Valley Cricket Association held recently. Club entries will close on October 15, and the grade entries will follow immediately. If grounds are available it is proposed to open the season on the last Saturday in October. Nine wickets at Strand Park, I two at Trafalgar Park, and one at Bel) Park have been allocated to the association by the Lower Hutt City Council. Practice facilities will be available at the two latter reserves as well as at Mitchell Park. Sub-committees were elected as follows:—Emergency Messrs. A. Hillock, F. J. May, and H. N. Jones; transfer, Messrs. R. Greer, J. Jerram, and H. N. Jones; postponement. Messrs. F. Brocklebank. J. Dunn and H. Hudson; delegation, Messrs. J. Jerram. F. Brocklebank. F. J. May. E. P Sanford, and H. N. Jones; finance, Messrs. G. R. Simpson, E. P. Sanford F J. May. and H. N. Jones; selection Messrs. W. Milner, K. Dunn, and H N. Jones; grounds, Messrs. R. Gray, J. Scuness, F. Brocklebank, F. J. May, R. Greer, and li: N. Jones; delegate to Umpires' Association, Mr. p. Ben ton; delegate to Hutt Valley Cricket Boys' Association, Mr.-F. Brocklebank: publicity agent, Mr. J. Jerram. It was decided to write to the Lower Hutt City • Council ■ a letter of appreciation on""the fine-pavilion erected at Trafalgar Park.
