DOPING ALLEGED
SENSATION IN INDIA
(By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright.» Rec. 12.30 p.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 26. Mayfowl, owned by Mr. Alec Higgins, will not be permitted to run in the Metropolitan Handicap and other races at the Randwick Spring Meeting because the Australian Jockey Club has received cable advice from India that Higgins has been warned ofl; for alleged doping of the racehorse Han, winner of the Ascot Plate at Poona. Action was taken by the stewards of the Royal Western India Turf Club. They inquired into the running of Han and tested its saliva after the race. Higgins's explanation, in answer to the doping allegations, was not accepted by the stewards. Higgins's disqualification is far-reaching, for in addition to Mayfowl, other horses owned by him in Sydney and Melbourne are automatically disqualified. They include Ethics, a candidate for the Victoria Derby and Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. Higgins has been leading trainer in India for many years, and a good buyer of horses in Australia.
[Mr. Hiegins has also horses representing him in New Zealand, and they will be similarly affected.]
