URGENT WORKS

(To the Editor.) Sir, —A letter in your paper of the 20th inst, by L. G. Austin regarding urgent works, is widely supported by the districts the modern main highway would pass through. The.supply of a bountiful water service from the headwaters of the Otaki River to! serve the adjacent districts would also i be a great boon. Both projects could quite easily be carried out without apparently any great difficulties in the way. The areas both these projects would serve are destined to be closely settled in the not too distant future. The new highway would be devoid of hills, and curves and distant from the present highway, the latter being used for intermediate traffic and the new highway for the fast through traffic.— I am, etc., HOROWHENUA.
