KHANDALLAH SHOW
Tiie Onslow Horticultural Society held its .spring show at the Town Hall, Kiiandalhih, on Friday last. At the Wellington show, held on the preceding Wednesday, tlie Onslow Society was successful in winning, for the fifth year in succession, the K. A. Wright Challenge Cup for ..suburban affiliated societies, and it could reasonably be expected, therefore, that, in its own district it would stage a really good siiow. These expectations were more than fulfilled. The narcissi and cut flowers sections were .judged by Mr. Herbert Poole, and Mrs. Branson judged the decorative and children's sections. The .society lias always encouraged the children's section, and was gratified to receive over :tl) entries from children. In the 52 classes for narcissi, there were 170 entries. The champion awards for trumpet and non-trumpet exhibits went lo Mr. K. X. Amoore, who recently returned from (lie Middle Kast. lMiring his absence overseas Mr. Amoore's well-known collection has been in tlie care of hks brother. Mr. Amoore also secured eight firsts, four seconds, and three highly commended awards. In the narcissi section, Mr. (J. K. Young gained 22 first prizes and eight second prizes. The cut flowers section attracted over 100 entries, and in the decorative section there were over 50. In tlie latter section the president's prize for the best exhibit was awarded to Mrs. A. .T Holloway. In tlie absence from Wellington of the president. Mr. .lolin Murray, Ihe It. A. Wright Cup, Xo. 1, was presented to the winner, Mr. Young, by Dr. A, C. Butchers.
