PARISHIONERS' TRIBUTE TO

TEACHER

In appreciation of her work for the Sunday school and Bible Class of St. Anne's Church, Northland, during the past 30 years, Miss F. Jones was honr oured at a large gathering of parishioners in St. Anne's Hall. . The vicar, the Rev. L. N. Watkins, presented Miss Jones with a black leather handbag containing a handsome cheque, a gift from parishioners in appreciation of the work she had done for the children of the parish from the kindergarten to the senior Bible class. Many of the latter, -who had been with her as children, still felt it an honour to be associated with her in her classes.

The Rey. J. E. Ashley-Jones, past vicar of the parish, also spoke of the great work Miss Jones had done during the years he had been vicar. Other

speakers were Miss Compton, of the Anglican Bible Class Union, who spoke on behalf of the Dominion Bible Classes in the absence of Sister Sewell; Miss B. Clark, secretary of the Sunday school; Mrs. A. E. Coomber, senior Bible classes; Captain F. A. Macindoe and Mr. S. H. Rastall, of the vestry. Letters and telegrams extending good v/ishes'to Miss Jones were sent by past members of the Bible classes now residing in various parts of New Zealand and serving with the forces in the Pacific .and Middle. East.-

Among those: present were leaders of the: Karori, Keiburn, and Wadestown Bible classes. The Keiburn Leagueof Mothers' choir sang several items, and other programme features were a bracket of songs by Miss Sylvia Devenie, accompanied by Mrs. S. Day; elocutionary items by Mr. Hugh Janson, and a .medley by Miss Kathleen Fuller and Mrs. Tanner. Mrs Copeland played for dances. •
