WORLD ORGANISATION

PROGRESS MADE IN LONDON

LONDON, September 10,

The executive council of the Preparatory Commission of the United Nations, meeting in London today, fixed October 15 as the deadline for the end of its talks.

The British representative, Mr. Philip Noel-Baker, thought that if the Preparatory Commission could conclude its deliberations by that date, it might bo possible for the General Assembly itself to meet early in January. Tne British Government hoped to get the United Nations started as early as possible, he said, and this hope was echoed by Mr. E. B,'. Stettinius for the United States, and by other members of the 14 nations represented.
